Day 1 (Feb 27th 2002):
- Around 12 noon, 59 dead bodies were removed from a single coach in the Sabarmati Express, which had caught fire at the Godhra station. A huge crowd gatherered all around the bodies which had been laid in the railway yard. The inquest, carried out by police officer Mirza, started at [...]

Within 48 hours of the fire on Sabarmati Express, which killed 59 Karsevaks (Hindu religious activists), near the Godhra railway stationon Feb 27, 2002, a most horrific genocide was executed in Gujarat. Over a thousand Muslims were killed by rampaging Hindu groups in and around Ahmedabad.
