AHMEDABAD: A citizen body named Movement for Secular Democracy has presented a memorandum to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh demanding a CBI inquiry of the Babri Masjid episode and prosecution of the ‘architects of demolition’.
The memorandum says that the central thrust of the Liberhan report has exposed the “shameless betrayal and desecration of the Constitution” and its basic principles by the major ruling parties and it cannot be ignored or put aside by legal squabbling and finding some loopholes here and there. The memorandum has been signed by several prominent personalities such as Chunibhai Vaidya, Ilaben Pathak, Mallika Sarabhai, Girish Patel, Rajni Dave and Mukul Sinha, who have also demanded the setting up of Fast-Track courts to bring an end to the issue.
