AHMEDABAD (SANA): Indian Gujarat Child Welfare Minister Maya Kodnani, accused of instigating mobs during the Hindu Muslim Gujarat in 2002, has been given anticipatory bail by a session court on Thursday.
The session court announced the verdict after hearing the anticipatory bail application of Kodnani.
The minister was wanted by the Indian Special Investigation Team set up by the Supreme Court to re-investigate nine riot cases.
Maya Kodnani has instigated mobs in Naroda Patiya, which resulted in death of around 100 the Muslims. Though witnesses had named her, she had been dropped from the accused list by the local police.
However, the Nanavati Commission, which was probing into the Hindu Muslims riots, had given a clean chit to the Modi government saying there was no evidence against any politician.

The accused in the SIT related cases have based their arguments solely on the ground of their names appearing first time after the lapse of six years. The Judiciary readily accepts this legal fallacy and grants bail. The Judiciary appears to be blind towards the facts and circumstances of the creation of SIT by the Supreme Court of India ???
