HC Directs AMC not to Disturb Rani Sipri Masjid and Siraji Sayad

GUJARAT HIGH COURT DIRECTS AMC NOT TO DISTURB RANI SIPRI MASJID AND SIRAJI SAYAD MASJID AND THEIR BOUNDARIES WALLS.

The Division Bench of Gujarat High Court consisting of the Acting Chief Justice Shri M.S. Shah and Justice D.H. Waghela after hearing the petition filed by Sunni Awami Forum, directed the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation not to demolish the two Masjids namely Rani Sipri and Siraji Saiyed Masjid or their boundary walls till the matter was finally decided. The court admitted the petition for final hearing.

The Court while noticing the archeological value of the Siraji Saiyed Masjid, asked the petitioner to file an application to the Archeological Survey of India for declaring the Masjid as a Protected Monument under the Ancient Monuments Act. The court also clarified that the stay order of the Court would not be attracted for commercial establishments but any removal can be done only after the permission from the Superintendent of the Archeological Department.
