Deadly Plan

Day 1 (Feb 27th 2002):

- Around 12 noon, 59 dead bodies were removed from a single coach in the Sabarmati Express, which had caught fire at the Godhra station. A huge crowd gatherered all around the bodies which had been laid in the railway yard. The inquest, carried out by police officer Mirza, started at 1.15 in the afternoon, and was completed and signed at 6.45 in the evening. Under criminal law, the inquesting authority has to decide whether to send the dead bodies for post-mortem or not. In this case, the post-mortem of almost all bodies was over by 6.45 p.m., the same time when inquest report was signed.

- There arise too many discrepancies in this story. Under whose orders were the post-mortems being conducted in the railway yard? How were the post-mortems done in the absence of any facility or medical equipments? How were the post-mortems done by doctors not trained to do them?

The mobile phone records indicate that Gujarat’s Health Minister, Ashok Bhatt, and state Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, decided to ‘finish off’ the post-mortems at the Godhra railway yard, illegal as it was!

- Why was the post mortem done in this hasty and fraudulent manner?

(1) The real cause of death was obliterated;

(2) The dead bodies could be transported to reach Ahmedabad next morning to hold a funeral rally;

(3) The inflamed anger of the rally could be lasered into a violent communal backlash.

Day 2 (Feb 28th 2002):

- 10 dead bodies were transported from Godhra to Ahmedabad after the inquest. A massive funeral rally of over 50,000 mourners took the bodies from Ramol, an area near Naroda, to the crematorium at 10 a.m..

- Around 10.30 a.m., some members of the funeral procession attacked a Muslim-owned hotel at Thakkarbapa nagar, close to Naroda.

- The violence spread to Naroda Gam, Naroda Patiya and Gulberg Society in rapid succession, all within a radius of three kilometers.

Thus began the most horrific genocide and communal riot in the history of free India – one that would change the politics of the country forever.

Uncover the complete truth of the Godhra riots in the ‘Deadly Plan‘.
